Our Annual Holiday Tree has arrived at Festival Square!

Thank you to all the people who turned out the watch and celebrate with us today.

And the combined efforts in the spirit of Municipal Cooperation of the Town of Wallkill and The City of Middletown Police Departments in blocking off traffic and escorting our lovely tree to festival square.

Holiday Tree Arrival

The Opening of Maple Hill Dog Park

Mayor Joseph M. DeStefano announces the opening of the Maple Hill Dog Park, a significant addition to the Parks System, at a press conference to be held on Friday, October 24, 2014.

Announcement will take place as follows:

LOCATION: Maple Hill Dog Park
County Route 78 entrance (old softball/baseball field site)

Grand Opening of Diana's Treasures, Antiques & Collectibles


Another Ribbon Cutting/Grand Opening took place in Downtown Middletown, Friday October 3rd at 6 PM. We are pleased to welcome Diana's Treasures, Antiques & Collectibles, located at 5 East Main Street, Middletown. Recognition Ceremony

On Friday, September 26th 2014, The Middletown Mayor, Joseph DeStefano honored the late Vince Dino at the site where the popular club, Dino's Lounge used to be. A plaque recognized the Middletown All-Star was unveild much to the crowds delight. This dedication and honor was presented by Mayor DeStefano, Council President, Miguel Rodrigues and members of the common council, and was unveiled by Vince Dino's own daughter Barbara and her Family.

Dino was known for attracting national acts during the Rock & Roll Era, such as Chubby Checker, Little Anthony & the Imperials, the Dupree's, the Coasters and a host of other local bands.  Dino's influence spanned beyond local night life to many youngsters who grew up playing organized sports.

Run 4 Downtown

The Ninth Annual Orange Regional Medical Center Run 4 Downtown was a wonderful success on August 16th. We could not have asked for a better morning, as Participants turned out for the 4K Race & Zumba. Volunteers and Spectators watched as Walkers started close to 8:45 AM, Women started close to 9:00 AM, and Men started close to 9:04 AM. The crowd also got to watch our Zumba Participants start soon after the run had begun. The Taste of the Town was set up as the crowd waited to see who would return first. Adam Malek took that honor this year, from Providence, Rhode Island. To see the full results click here! By 10:15 the final racer had returned and the Taste of the Town began in full swing. Venders lined North Street Distributing goodies and treats, and something good to eat as well. Soon the sounds of Murali Coryell took the stage and for the crowd to enjoy. The trophies were handed out to each age group of the race, and to the champions of the race. Medals were also given out to those that performed in the Middletown Triple Challenge. A big thanks goes out to all who helped sponsor the event.

The Grand Opening of Zaria's Fine Dining

The Middletown BID is pleased to welcome Zaria's Fine Dining to our downtown area! Now located at 14 North Street, this resturant celebrated their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on August 28th, 2014. It offers a menu that spans across different cultures, and offers a fine dining menu. Carrie Montgomrey, Founder and Manager is very excited about the opening of her resturant, and is eager to meet the town. The Grand Opening of Kindred

The downtown area is now home to a new clothing boutique, Kindred. Located at 44 James Street, they celebrated their grand opening and ribbon cutting took place Friday, September 12th and featured food, beverages, stellar clothing, and awesome art. Owner and operator, Karen LaPreziosa, is excited to be open and meet the people of Middletown. Her fares include Handcrafted jewelry by independent artists, unique clothing by independent designers, and the only store in the Hudson Valley to sell TUK Shoes. They also will be having art shows every 4 to 6 weeks featuring local artists. The walls are lined with splendid small, medium, and large pieces, most of which are on sale. The Grand Opening of Wild Soul Yoga Studio

The Downtown Middletown BID is pleased to welcome Wild Soul Yoga Studio. Now located at 3 West Main Street, they celebrated their grand opening and ribbon cutting on Friday, September 12th. They welcomed the neighborhood with food, beverages, and raffled off t-shirts and free classes. Owner and head yoga teacher, Elisa Piscitelli, says all are welcome at the studio. They have day and evening classes that any level of experience can participate in. The teachers are trained to handle all illnesses, injuries, and even body types. They also have yoga for grief support, and coming soon a Wild Soul Kids Yoga Series.

The Honorary Street Dedication for Aaron Tveit

On August 31st, not only did Middletown have it's first White Coat Ceremony for Touro College at the Paramount Theatre. After the ceremony, Middletown presented Aaron Tveit with an Honorary Street Dedication on the portion of South Street outside of the theatre. Aaron Tveit and his family were present for the ceremony and the dedication. Born at the site of the current Touro College in 1983, Tveit went to school in Middletown, and included thanks to his High School Teacher Mr. Bennett for the role he had in his career.

The Hoboken International Film Festival





Have you heard the News? Or seen the new banners and posters around town?

The Hoboken International Film Festival is returning to The Paramount Theatre for its second year! The Festival will be running from May 30th to June 5th.

Opening Night, taking place May 30th, starting at 6:00 PM will be the Extravaganza Cocktail Hour featuring Celebrities and Filmmakers. With a special Hoboken International Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award being personally accepted by Burt Young. Followed by the world wide premier of Rock Story. The new film directed by Dylan Banks, that was shot in our very own Middletown, NY.

From Saturday to Wednesday, May 31st to June 4th, over 130 different movies will be playing. The movies featured in the festival will range from Short Films, to TV Pilots, including Documentaries and Featured Films. These films will be playing in two different theatres, and will be broken up into different blocks playing at 12 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM, 6 PM, 8 PM & 10 PM. Tickets are now available online and at the box office. 

The Closing Gala, taking place June 5th, will include another star studded cocktail party starting at 6:30 PM. Followed by the Live Award Ceremony hosted by Comedian Gilbert Gottfried. With a special award in Excellence & Achievement in Acting Award, being presented to superstar Actor Michael Biehn. Expect all the Excitement and Glamor you see at the Oscars!

Night Out Against Crime

August 5th was a beautiful day, and the perfect day for our Night Out Against Crime. A wonderful time was had by all to enjoy the tons of different tables the lined Thrall Park. Starting at 5 PM, people were able to browse about and learn about different organizations operating within Middletown. The crowd was also able to celebrate The Middletown Little League recieved plaques and certificates in celebration of their District 19 Championship. A wonderful K-9 Demonstration was put on, not to mention an awesome display of Zumba. The day was rounded out with giant slides, facepainting, snow cones, and so much more.
