The City of Middletown's Mayors Youth Council will be hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, February 28th from 3:00pm to 7:30pm at the Mulberry House Senior Center located at 62 West Main Street to benefit the New York Blood Center.
*A few donor reminders:
...Must be at least 16 years of age
...If you are 16 you must have a parental consent form filled out
...You must weigh a minimum of 110 lbs.
...Anyone over the age of 70, must have a doctors note
...A canteen will be set up with juice and cookies for all donors upon completion
...NYBC members will be on premise to answer and questions or concerns you may have
Mayors Youth Council members will be volunteering NYBC staff for the duration of this event.

Dear Friends & Neighbors:
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy and successful New Year. Your help and support during 2017 is very much appreciated.
This has been another progressive news-making year for the Downtown Middletown Business Improvement District. And, as has been the case for going on 27 years, much of the credit and thanks goes to our small and dedicated BID staff, our hard-working and talented volunteer Board and our public private partnership with the City of Middletown elected officials.
The Annual Report for 2017 follows the format of last year’s report. On these pages, under bold headlines, you will find news of the BID at work in Downtown Middletown. Our budget allows us to continue our commitment to our core services.
With a district assessment amount of $90,121 in 2017, we have built partnerships with local organizations, businesses and the City of Middletown to continue leveraging our funds and to provide programs and events for our downtown.
Our mission is spelled out in a district plan that calls for programs that enhance beautification, safety, sanitation and promotion. Listed below is how we focus these tasks.
Beautification - Floral displays tastefully placed throughout the district - Decorative street signs throughout the central district Safety - Traffic control and parking coordination at downtown events
- Foot Patrol – The BID coordinates with Middletown Police Dept. regarding foot patrols
Sanitation - Maintain and coordinate a seven day per week litter control program
- BID coordinates with DPW for 6 day curb side trash pickup and common dumpster depot locations - Weed control and general maintenance of downtown trees and bushes
- Crow Deterrent Program
-coordinate various events throughout the year
-use tools such as the BID website and social media to promote and market the district
I am looking forward to working with all of you during the coming year. Also, a special thanks to the Board of Directors, the officers and staff of the B.I.D. who worked so hard to make 2017 a very successful year. I’d be remiss not to mention our public/private partnership with the City of Middletown, who contributes towards our mission.
